"I have a couple of rib heads that are out and causing some spasms and pain. It's just a matter of keeping it painfree and loose where I can swing. Tom did an awesome job of getting me to where I could swing."

—Tiger Woods

Golf is a sport that has many physical and mental demands as well as physiological and emotional challenges that can inhibit a golfer's performance. Whether you’re an active amateur golfer or playing on the PGA Tour, competing at your best and posting low scores begins with knowing your body. Understanding what your body can do for you, what to expect from your body, and how to get from your body what you want, when you need it,
is crucial to playing a great round of golf.

  • Twisting repetitively 150-500 times per day in the same direction and at the same angle
  • Walking five miles 5-6 times per week regardless of how hot or humid it is, up and down hills
  • Traveling by plane or motor home weekly, twenty-five to thirty times per year on average
  • Sleeping in a different bed, using a different pillow with different support
  • Rarely a home cooked meal, making a healthy food intake a constant challenge

Knowing and maximizing your body’s potential, being able to implement technique that complements your body’s capabilities, and having a body that is capable of meeting the various technical positions demanded are essential for a healthy and successful golf career. Minimizing injuries and maximizing your potential to shoot a low score is what makes the tradition of the game of golf most enjoyable.
